"NOTE: Before I went through the steps below, I disconnected everything from my laptop including my other monitor that was plugged into the HDMI port along with my computer power cord. I wanted no power source to my laptop or anything plugged into its ports. Power on your laptop. Once it’s on, press and hold down the Shift Key, continue to hold down the shift key throughout this entire process until you get to step 3 below. With the Shift Key still pressed, RESTART your laptop from the standard windows menu (where you normally would turn off or restart). Keep that Shift Key pressed! Your laptop will restart but after the LENOVO screen comes up it should then take you to a blue screen with a few options. You can now release the Shift Key. Use your keyboard arrows to select the menu option UEFI Firmware Settings and then select Run when prompted. This then opens the BIOS menu. From the BIOS menu scroll down with your arrows on the right side of the menu until you see "Disable Built in Battery" (or some similar words), click on it, then press "Yes/OK to power off. Wait 60 seconds. (additionally hold down power button firmly for 30 seconds) Plug in your laptop power cord. Press the power button to turn on your laptop. After your laptops powers all the way up and you sign into Windows (if you sign in) then connect your external monitor to the USB-C port. This should now automatically detect your connected monitor. If you have another monitor to connect, you can do so now." Alternate method: Unplug power cord and all cables from laptop ports. Click on power off menu and hold down shift key on keyboard while clicking on shutdown option with left mouse button or lower left area of touchpad on laptop below keyboard area until the words "SHUTTING DOWN" appear across the display screen. Hold down power button for 60 seconds. Then press the power button to turn on laptop. Additional alternate method: Unplug power cord and all cables from laptop ports. Hold down power button for 60 seconds. Then press the power button to turn on laptop. Note: this issue may be a result of a failed Windows update installed or a pending incomplete Windows update install. | |
