Centurylink has announced they will be retiring ALL q.com email addresses at the end of 2025. This means you will stop receiving and sending emails through any @q.com email address you have by then.
If this is your only email address, you need to: 1: Set up a new email address. Centurylink is going to create you one using @myctl.net, but I highly recommend you do not use this one! If Centurylink changes their mind in a few years, that one may disappear too. Since you have to change EVERYTHING already, now is the time to switch to a different email service. You can choose a free email service, such as Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook.com, Proton Mail, etc. There are also paid services that offer more features or storage, or a custom domain. 2: Start logging into any service that sends you emails at your q.com email and change the email address to your new email address. Now would also be a good time to change passwords on any service, if you use the same password anywhere else, and enabling 2-factor authentication. This includes all services like your Electric Company (Idaho Power), your bank, any retirement accounts, Amazon, Walmart, Target, Netflix, Hulu, etc. 3: Notify all of your friends and family that your email address is changing. Start using the new email account. Until the end of 2025, treat any email that comes into your q.com account as a reminder that they still have your old email and you need to update that person/service so they have your new email address. If you need assistance with any of this, contact your computer tech for assistance. Dear Email User, We are reaching out to inform you that your Q.com email address will be changing from username@q.com to username@myctl.net. This change to the new Myctl.net email domain will begin 10/21/2025. This transition is necessary to avoid any interruption to your email service as we retire the Q.com domain. Whether you are new to q.com email or are a long time q.com user, we understand this change may be hard. Please rest assured that your current email account will remain fully operational, your messages will remain intact, and no emails will be lost during or due to this transition. You will not need to change any settings or configurations on your end. Webmail will be available at www.CenturyLink.net. The only change you will need to make is to sign in with your new @myctl.net username. Messages sent to your @Q.com email address will be delivered to the new email address and the sender will be advised of your new address until December 31, 2025. You can also begin advising your contacts of your new address and updating any connected accounts. NOTE: If you are using an email application like Outlook, Mac Mail, Thunderbird, etc. on your computer or smartphone, it is imperative that those applications be configured with the following server settings: For Incoming Mail (POP): Username: yourusername@myctl.net Server: pop.centurylink.net Port: 995 Encryption: SSL/TLS For Incoming Mail (IMAP): Server: mail.centurylink.net Port: 993 Encryption: SSL/TLS For Outgoing Mail (SMTP): Server: smtp.centurylink.net Port: 587 Encryption: TLS (or 465 with SSL) Authentication: Requires authentication (typically "use same settings as incoming server") We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience as we make this update.
