Shut down the computer quickly, it may still be powered by the lower voltage rails, but the CPU fan is off. One result is the CPU heatsink gets hot since the CPU is on but the fan is now off. In my case, all fans in the case turned off, EXCEPT for the power supply fan. RAM LED's and power lights were still on, and power supply still hummed normally. The GPU fans were off. The CPU fan was off, but the CPU was still active, resulting in the heatsink getting very hot. No display, tapping power button had no reaction, I had to power it off by flipping power switch on PSU.
Most likely the 12V Rail on the PSU failed. Replace the power supply. | |
